About Kathy

Books are special to Kathy, and she has always enjoyed reading. Some of Kathy’s earliest memories are of her mother reading aloud to her. Each time they went to the grocery store, her mother bought a Little Golden book for her. Kathy’s favorite characters were Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy.

Kathy’s first attempt at writing was in elementary school. She and a friend wrote scripts and acted out favorite Nancy Drew books. Throughout her school years, her love of reading continued. Kathy has a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and a master’s degree in education from the University of Houston. For 18 years she shared her passion for reading and writing by teaching language arts in Houston-area elementary schools. During her last year of teaching, she wrote an ABC book about Houston for elementary students.

Kathy was born in Corpus Christi, but has spent most of her life in Houston. She lives there with her husband, also an author, and their miniature pinscher, Maggie. She has two sons who live in Houston.

Kathy likes to read mysteries, political intrigue, thrillers, and other realistic fiction. David Baldacci, Vince Flynn, and Sue Grafton are among her favorite authors. Her favorite children’s authors include Tomie dePaola, Gary Paulsen, and Patricia Polacco. Kathy’s yearly goal is to read at least 52 books and write at least one children’s book.
